I’m Jonas Wendler, a digital data analyst & consultant based out of Zurich, Switzerland.

Currently, I am heading the Data Insights & Analytics at Tamedia (TX Group AG), Switzerland’s biggest media company with a wide range of newspapers and magazines in multiple languages. Tasked with providing insights for paid media, my team and I sit at the intersection of editorial, product, e-commerce, marketing, growth, and technology.
Hereby, I am reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and work closely with the Chief Product Officer and Chief Revenue Officer.
I am honored to help develop well-known brands like Bilan, BZ Berner Zeitung, Der Bund, Femina, Finanz und Wirtschaft, Schweizer Familie, Tages-Anzeiger, Tribune de Genève, or 24 Heures.

Previously, I worked as a Consultant Digital Analytics at Trakken Switzerland and a Project Manager Analytics (Digital Analytics & Technical SEO) at Yourposition (now Dept Agency). Until the end of 2017, I was a Partner – Digital Development at the international site selection and market entry consulting rm Blair & Partner / Navigator Consulting. Originally from Germany, I have lived some substantial time in the US, in Denmark, France, and some other countries.

I am excited about all things data – from research and measurement, over data analysis and insight generation, to business intelligence, data science, and data visualization. I am also interested in SEO and have a passion for research and privacy.

In my spare time, I co-organize AnalyticsCamp Switzerland, a barcamp-style analytics unconference.

My work experience can be grouped into two broader areas: international economics and market research; as well as digital media and marketing.

In the digital economy, I have worked for over eight years in various position: From a German SaaS startup, over independent consulting work, agency-side SEO and digital analytics, to my current position as Head of Data Insights & Analytics at the Swiss media company Tamedia (TX Group AG).

I have also been working in site selection, market-entry, and economic development for about five years. I started at the German American Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta, Georgia and later on followed James Blair to Navigator Consulting, where I managed site selection projects of up to 700 million USD capital investment and advanced the research and analytical process. From mid-2016 to the end of 2017, I was a partner Partner – Digital Development at Navigator Consulting’s European branch Blair & Partner.


I hold a Master of Science (MSc) in Economics and Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School, with a concentration in International Marketing and Management.
In my undergraduate studies, I pursued an international double-degree at the University of Southern Denmark / Syddansk Universitet (BA int.) and the Europa-Universität Flensburg (BSc). Alongside the general focus on International Management, I specialized in International Economics & Development as well as Marketing, Media- and Strategic Management. With the cross-border emphasis of this program, courses were held in German, English, and Danish.

International Experience

To this date, I have, including exchange programs, lived in seven dier- ent countries, namely Germany, France, England, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, and the United States. In the US, I was primarily located in the Twin Cities (MN & WI) and Atlanta (GA) metropolitan areas.

Aside from my native German, I speak four additional languages: English, French, Spanish, & Danish – some better than others. Thus, I do have an international mindset and like to explore new countries and cultures.


I have a very peculiar and versatile set of interest. But on the other hand, they all intersect and let me view things from a dierent angle.

As most people do, to some extent, I have political interests, with a focus on International and European politics. Regarding the latter, I support the notion of further European integration. But I am also keen on pushing (clean) technologies as well as digital policies (Netzpolitik) in either national or transnational politics.

I am a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and support a few organisations.


When it comes to sports, I am a fan of Rugby, American Football and Football (Soccer). But I can easily be entertained by any kind of sport, except maybe Cricket.

In my sports career (one might call it like that) I have, for instance, played American Football (Tight End) for the Sealords in Flensburg, and played Rugby for UWRF River Falls, CBS Sport Rugby, TSB Ravensburg Ravens, & GC Zurich Rugby (Prop, Lock, Center, and Wing).
